RT5 Question

Post by DHallworth »

I’m looking for an RT5 unit for my newly acquired C6.

The RT5 in the C6 has a Sim Card slot and looks different from the RT5 in the C5 due to the layout of the buttons. Does anyone know if I’m searching for the wrong thing?

Other then the Peugeot logo on this picture below, the RT4 and 5 from the C6 both look the same.

When Googling it, it’s very hard to find one!

Thanks

David.

Hi David

The RT4 use a SIM card in the Head unit for telephony and the RT5 units have built in Bluetooth and use a High Res Display. So bear in mind you won't be able to use an RT5 unit (if you can source one) without a High Res Screen.

The RT5s are as rare as hen's teeth now to source. Original parts were for the Nero Mistral:

6579 KV (Configured Part Number)
16090640ZD (Replacement Part Number)
6579 KW (Unconfigured Part Number)

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your help. I’ve read on the C6 that the RT4 and RT5 are a straight swap, one out one in. I think the C6’s had the better screen on them did they not?

I saw a C6 at Chevrons that had the RT5 fitted, the 5 in the C6 still has the sim card slot on it but has Bluetooth built into it which I thought was a touch odd.

There were different screens depending on build date - because the C6 also had the poverty spec RD4 system. Earlier models were aslo fitted with the RT3 system (same as the C5 MK II) that had a fibre optic connection to the screen. The RT4 was fitted and later the RT5. My Navidrive 3D (NG4) system on the C5 X7 has both a bluetooth built in and an internal phone that uses a SIM card via the video peripheral connection in the glovebox. That is handled by the Services Module. So I can switch between the 2 as needed.

And of course there was the Bluetooth hands free kit available - probably for units without telematics systems like the RD4.

As for configuration, they are very similar - but bear in mind the ECU from any donor vehicle will have been configured for the donor car, so you will need to VIN code it and check that all the parameters are correct for your C6. E.g. type of parking assistance, whether you have an equaliser Amp or not, TPMS, CD Player, radar alert, Bluetooth Function, connectivity options etc. I can probably help you with the configuration screens nearer the time depending on what you go for or can manage to source.

The RT4s are also extremely hard to get hold of now (unless you have one already of course).

Re: RT5 Question

On my RT3 Navidrive with only the internal telephone and using my iPhone I did this:

Get a compatible SIM card and slot that into the RT4. Then on your mobile phone, create 2 contacts, let's say 'Car Divert' and 'Car Undivert'.
On the 'Car Divert' contact, enter **21* followed by the RT4's SIM card Telephone number and then a # e.g. (**21*01234567891#) as the telephone number.
On the 'Car Undivert' contact enter ##21# as the telephone number.

Assign these 2 new contacts to a speed dial if preferred.

Then when you are going for a spin in the car, just dial the 'Car Divert' contact on your mobile and all your mobile calls will be diverted to the RT4 telephone so you'll have handsfree for your mobile effectively for incoming calls.

When you leave the car, just hit the 'Car Undivert' option to route calls back to your mobile.

I withheld my carphone number, so people didn't start calling me on it - but this was a very effective solution for the RT3.
