C8 Diesel Additive level

Post by jscadden »

I recently had a message display "Diesel Additive at minimum level". I've approached a couple of garages but I'm not convinced they know what it entails.

Is this possible to do myself and, if so, how would I go about doing it?

Regards,

John

Your C8 has the DW10ATED 110 engine, and build date number is 10468. So was originally filled with Eolys 178 additive and the additive click fit unions should be Green in colour.

You'll need a filling kit (usually 3 litres to ensure you fill it), but make sure you get the kit with the filling connectors, tubes and basket etc. PAT fluid is also compatible and popular as a cheaper alternative. Here's an ebay listing showing the types. Available in 1 litre kits too, but if the warning is on, I would go with a 3 litre, but you can't keep what you don't use as it will perish in the atmosphere.

You will also need a Lexia to reset the additive counter once the operation is done. There are plenty of videos on how to do it :

One her as an example (not specifically the correct fluid or vehicle, but the operation is the same.
