best bet is probably a set of 2 way or 3 way speakers have a look in the doors or where ever u want to replace the speaker and have a quick measure of the speakers diameter. i know that in my zx the ones in the ft door and rear quaters (3dr) are 13 cm which are easy to find!! i run pioneer 3 way 13cm speakers in the ft and rear and with my subs and amps in the boot the sound is awesome. im soon upgrading the front ones for some mids and tweeters which will improve the sound drastically
if u need any help pop into your nearest halfords or motorworld

Don't forget that the XM has space for tweeters at each end of the dash (if not already fitted) this means you can put a pair of Hi-Fi single cone speakers in the front doors (bass/mid) and tweeters in the dash: forget about the rear seat passengers and enjoy yourself in the front!

XM has 16cm drivers in front, and you can mount tweet on dash originaly without fuss...
I will put Image sandwich carbon/kevlar/carbon fibre kick and soft dome tweet...
I will put some 50mm mid on tweet place and put tweet on roof junction, optimise crosower for all that and try to aligne impulse response regrding placement of tweet...
I have done that on one car that won lot's of medals on sound quality regional contests for this part of europe...
There is even more expensive pro series but price is around 600GPB...
Best sound you can get from morel http://www.moreleurope.com/, scan speak http://www.d-s-t.com/scs/index.htm, autosonik is cool, ground zero, xzetec, res...
Google a little or best thing would be to buy some specalist magazine regarding car audio...

If you're uprating your speakers, without a doubt go for components (separate tweeters) it makes a hell of a difference! Fitting them isn't difficult and the increase in sound quality is dramatic, My personal recommendation would be to go for 'Focals' a high quality speaker without breaking the bank.
Oh and as mentioned don't worry about the rears if money's an issue throw it all in the front, your the one who drives it!
