My New Lexia Install.... Not Going Well

Post by Doo »

My computer chap is helping, but we seem to have stumbled at one part and the DVD install instruction video doesn't seem to match the instructions n paper #-o

We're trying to get from 7.1 to 7.2, but we've missed a part and can't for whatever reason, go to the exact point n the video as if you do, it goes all the way back to the start!

So, what I'm asking is.... HELP! :-D

What have we done wrong?

Thanks. I think because we've been at it all night and that the time it has taken so far, we may have missed a bit...

He's cottoned on so looks like things are progressing.

But how on earth does the video work? Im used to pausing or FF or RW by clicking on the blue section of the progress line, but this sin't playing ball

May I add I'm currently on my Mac....

It depends on the format of the video file and the player. Often pressing the cursor key left or right forwards about 10 seconds in either direction.

OK, in the video, the chap deleted 4 shortcuts before he updated from 7.1 to 7.2.

We've deleted 3 (Citroen badge & Peugeot badge and a service thing.....) but we can't catch what the 4th shortcut is to be deleted... Sorry, I've had a few sherries 8-[

My guru is asking what these short cuts are and why they make a difference?

He's never done a car diag install before.... A bit like me [-o<

The instructions on the paper were unclear.

We needed to reboot the computer as opposed to the diagbox programme... #-o

It's swimming along nicely now.

You have to remember that this software is 'modified' to allow mortals to use it - it is not intended for public use.... Ignore the shorcuts you deletes with the logo's that's fine they are for associated programmes that you won't have. You just need the diagbox logo - the others can go.

As per the link in my last post, ALWAYS make a copy of your licence file - you will need this if the system deactivates to avoid reinstalling.

It's all going great guns now.

I take it disc 2 (8.17) is a similar carry on?

Don’t update it further than you need for your vehicle. V 7.58 is more than adequate for your 2007 C4. The version is shown in the top right corner of Diagbox. Later updates actually limit functionality!! V7.58 will cover vehicles up to 2013.

Later updates are really only for more recent vehicles and are not necessary for older cars.

I didn't install from the 2nd disc yet. Thought I'd ask advice...

Does it apply to the already installed diag or do you have to install a 2nd one as 2013 on-wards?

Sorry for the questions, any code readers I've used in the past have been plug & play

You’ll appreciate from here I can’t see what kit you have. But if you hVe been given Diagbox 7 and Diagbox 8 installation media, then stick with V7 and then update that through to 7.58.

Once the main programme is installed (7.02), there is then a sequence of small update files that are applied in sequence to get to he desired version.

Obviously each seller has bundled their media and any updates separately and with differing instructions

Search the first installation DVD (don’t run the installation programme again) and locate the update executables.

If you can’t find these, tell me what version your installed Diagbox is currently is and I might be able to link you to the update files you need.

In either case, if this is for your 2007 C4, Diagbox will launch the encapsulated Lexia programme in any case. Diagbox doesn’t run with earlier vehicles. This is normal and will be an automatic process. Hence the reason why further updates past 7.58 won’t help you as it will still be using the older Lexia interface for your vehicle.

My computer guy figured it out and ran each update from 7.1 and 7.2 up to what was all on disc one.

We haven't done anything with disc two yet as I want to first be able to fix my wife's car. Then once I am up to speed with it I want to be able to look at other cars when the need arises. I have a couple of friends with new and almost new PSA vehicles.

I am off to look for the tip for my 12v car power pack as I have an Acer one fitted at present, but need a tip to fit the Toshiba. The battery is utterly useless and holds no charge whatsoever. The replacement should be here this week. Best news is it currently doesn't need a C-mos battery, but it's been ordered anyway because I don't imagine it will last long...

But, all the updates are installed and the diagbox loads no problem. I have removed almost everything from the Toshiba so plenty RAM, plenty space on the HDD and the home screen has 3 short cut icons, DB, recycle bin and AVG :)

Off out now, wish me luck 8-[

You can dump AVG too! No need of antivirus on your diagnostic laptop as you won't be needing to go online and to be honest it can interfere with communications in some cases.

How much memory does the DiagBox laptop have? The more you can fit the better, as DiagBox is somewhat memory hungry!
