Pug 309 Rear Brake Problem - Help

<font face="Arial">The car is reversed and then the brake applied to stop.
Then when I go forward one rear wheel locks (NSR).
Pressing the brake pedal again and releasing frees the wheel.
This only happens when I reverse and then brake. Car is fine when going forwards.
I have had the offending drum off to look, but all seems normal. The shoes are not worn down.
It's a Lucas/Girling Set-up.
Could it be the adjuster[?]

[:D]Hi ,
I am allmost certain that the springs holding the brake shoes together are too weak and are not returning fully after you have pressed the brake.Make sure there is no traces of grease or brake fluid on brake linings.

What about the self-adjusting mechanism?

[:D]Adjusters could be seized .If they are ease them off and adjust them manually so the brakedrums push on and are free to turn.

Is this the system where the handbrake actuator is rivited to the brake drum? If it is, the actuator arm could be siezed to the shoe.
Lots of copaslip helps, but you'll have to remove the shoes to sort it.
FWIW, my ZX suffered the same problem when I got it.
