Xantia - height corrector Valve

Unread post by Dom_81 »

I've managed to get both height correctors to respond to added weight ie if I stand in the boot it will lift up to compensate. Tyres are at the correct pressure. New spheres also caused improvement to the ride.

The final remaining issue is the front is still a bit wafty. When I hit bumps and undulations at any speed, it feels a bit like a speedboat hitting a wave.
When I press down the front corners of the car, sometimes it feels firm, other times the bonnet feels like it just wants to flap up and down.

I've bled the brakes, the only thing I've noticed is that front height corrector which I bought on Ebay has a valve which is the same size as the one at the rear.

Is the height corrector valve at the front meant to wider than the valve at the rear? I know they are the same diameter but am wondering if my xantia mistakenly has a rear valve at the front, as on a previous xantia I noticed the valve at the front was bigger but (presumably to allow for extra weight of the engine).
Thanks for any advice.

Front and rear height corrector valves are the same part on all LHM hydraulic Citroens from the GS in 1970 to the Xantia. Only difference is the mechanism to connect it to each anti roll bar. The Citroen DS used larger diameter hydraulic pipes (4.5mm).
