Confused with key programming

Post by blake7 »

This must have been covered many times but after what feels like days of trawling the internet I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

I have a Nemo van with only one key, I have a new blank key fob which is cut but I am not sure how I need to program it? The key supplier states:

Programming Method:

Immobiliser: Pre-code by EEPROM and then add diagnostically.

Remote: Automatically with immobiliser.

I have one existing fob and I have the key code. Can I program the key using Lexia 3 and Diagbox? It seems zedfull will program the key but I don't know anyone local with a machine. As already pointed out to me, I will also need the s.1279 module for Lexia to work with the van.

Thanks in advance

You will need to do BOTH keys at the same time, as any that are not done during a programming session will be 'forgotten'. Other than that I can offer no more advise.

You will be able to programme the keys with Diagbox, but you will need the customer confidential code. The key code is different to the confidential code. It will of been supplied on a card in the handbook - but if you don't have it, you can obtain it from Citroen for a fee, proof of ownership and personal ID / address.

Thanks,

I have the transponder code, is this the code I need or is that different to the key code?

The code will be on a card (similar in size to a credit card) under a scratch panel. It will be four digits long, combining numbers and letters. When I get back I will try to post up a picture of one of mine (both have not had the panels scratched) so you can see what they look like.

As Marc said, if you don't have this code Citroen will provide it if you can satisfy the proof of ownership and pay the fee (typically around £20).

The following link shows what the card looks like;

Don't post that information on a public forum - you are effectively compromising the security - I've deleted your image on that basis.

That will likely be the code you need.

Thanks, I thought by blanking out part of the VIN then it would be fine to post.

To be honest, if someone stole it they would be doing me a favour :rofl2:

Your VIN is fine - that is masked automatically here and on public display on your windscreen. The confidential code is not though
