Wing Mirror Replacement

Post by XantiaExclusiveHDI »

So... Some numpty reversed into my N/S mirror on a car park, breaking the upper from the lower and denting my door in the process :?

So I need to replace the mirror. Are all X2 electric mirrors the same? My mirror lowers when engaging reverse gear, not sure if this affects things?

Thanks!

No, they're not the same - they differ depending on options.

For your Xantia, the part is 8148WA for the left hand side Passenger on a RHD). Of course no longer available from Citroen now.

However the outer shell (2) on the diagram is still showing as available (unpainted), part: 95668006.

Thanks Marc!

So the indexing mirror is different to the non-indexing mirror? Is it possible to remove the gubbings from my mirror and transfer them into a non-indexing replacement would you know?

Also is there an easy way to identify an indexing mirror?

Thanks again!

There are several versions each for right and left hand drive models and with / without the indexing option. The indexing one also has a control module inside the door (item 6 in the diagram). I can't tell you what other differences there are internally to the mirror, but there must be some - otherwise they would all be the same part with just the the control module included or not.

But good luck!

It is a few years since I had to work on one of these, but my recollection is that all electric mirrors for Xantias from about 1996 (including late mk 1) use the same casing and top cover, but the motor module and wiring harness varies with mk1/mk2 and whether dipping or not. I am sure that I made a good mirror with a mix of parts retrieved from dipping and non-dipping models.
