EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
Hi guys,
I want to change the oil at my EAT6. I went to the servicebox, typed my VIN, and the only thing written regarding oil is JWS 3324 specification.
I asked the dealer for the price, and I was shocked, they told me 130€ for 2 liters.
I went to the other local auto-part stores, and told them about JWS 3324 specification, and the price was what I was expected, about 12-14€ per liter.
But huge price difference got me wondering. Is the JWS 3324 specification the only thing I should look for?
I planned to buy Total Fluidmatic MV LV, which meets JWS 3324 specification, but is that the oil which I can use for this gearbox?
Also, could it be bad mixing different brands? I can't know what's inside now.

If you were to post up the VIN here a Moderator can look up your vehicle and tell you what is the correct oil for your car (for security reasons the VIN will be obscured so only Moderators can read it).

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
I need your VIN to confirm the engine type and Euro specification. The oils can vary depending on this information, but any equivalent to JWS 3324 should be fine as long as it is directly compatible.mara- wrote: 18 Aug 2019, 22:12 Hi guys,

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
I already checked by the VIN, but here it is: FS272697
Should Total Fluidmatic MV LV be compatible? And what do you think about mixing different brands, I can't possibly know what is currently inside, and as you know, only 3 of 7 liters comes out from the gearbox. I planned to do at least 2 changes because of this, maybe even 3.

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
Total Fluidmatic MV states it is equivalent for JWS 3309 3317, not JWS3324. Remember you have a Euro 6.1 standard vehicle with AM6 version 3 (EAT6) box. which is different from earlier models. I'm not going to get into another long winded discussion about oil types and equivalents as it has been covered in may topics here before. Basically earlier AM6 models were different part numbers for the transmission boxes and components depending on the year and Euro standard. People tend to go off on the oil they use - without any regard for the differences in the design of the boxes even though they are all called AM6.
So I will just say once again for reference, that the AM6 Auto boxes have different part numbers, different ECUs, different hydraulic blocks etc, for the different AM6 boxes used by PSA, according to year and Euro standards. I suggest you search on the original part number (9734R7) for the JWS 3324 oil and then ensure any alternatives specifically meed the PSA standard.
Examples:
https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/oenumber/9734r7.html
https://spareto.co.uk/oe/9734r7
Once you have found an equivalent - how much you want to pay will be down to you. But regardless - it will take about 3 oil changes over a few months to class it as near a full change as you can.

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
Thanks, but it seems you missed the LV in the naming. Total Fluidmatic MV LV.
https://catalog.lubricants.total.com/en ... ATIC-MV-LV
Datasheet shows Aisin Warner JWS 3324, so it should be compatible?

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
I'm just saying that it does not refer to any PSA marques on the approved list....

Yeah, I know, but it is Aisin gearbox in the car, and spec match, so in you opinion, could it be used?

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
Aisin make a lot of gearboxes including all the AM6 versions for PSA and the EAT 6, however they can use different oil specifications as I've said. If I was looking for an equivalent - I would only be happy if the part numbers of the oil matched the OEM part number and it specified the part number. That's my opinion but it must be your own choice. I would be questioning why they have not included a large manufacturer such as Peugeot, Citroen and DS Automobiles in the list ????? That would be my warning flag.

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
I agree, it is strange. OK, so let's say I go with Meyle, I think I might find that one in my country, how come they don't mention JWS 3324 in the spec but claim it's for Peugeot?

If you use the link:
https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/oenumber/9734r7.html
Then select an oil brand - let's say you go for Febi Bilstein - then click on the DETAILS link underneath the price, then on the following page, look under the OE Numbers column on the left, scroll down and you will see the OEM part number (9734.R7) for the JWS3324

Re: EAT 6 - is this correct oil?
Yeah, I sow the part number, but it 's strange that spec is not mentioned. Anyway, I'll go to the local store to check if they have any of these brands and check out the price.

They ship to Serbia, but cheaper to try and source more locally.

Ok, good luck I'm sure you'll get some there - you can't be the only one in Bosnia with a PSA vehicle! with this box!
