Peugeot 405 Thatcham cat 1 alarm fitment
Hi, I'm looking into the idea of retrofitting a Thatcham alarm to my pre-facelift 405. ideally a cat 1. Can anyone give me some advice?

Do you mean retrofit the original factory alarm or an aftermarket one?

I don't know much about alarms, but with older cars being much easier to nick I think its sensible to have an extra security measure so I have a Disk-Lock.
Theory for me is that a potential Thief will probably pass it by and find a different older car to nick that's not got any extra security measures.
I also often park it with the front wheels turned so it can't be pushed onto a Dolly or similar

Yeah, disklocks aren't a bad idea. I'm just trying to bring my insurance quotes down a bit!Pug_XUD_KeenAmateur wrote: 16 Aug 2019, 19:48 I don't know much about alarms, but with older cars being much easier to nick I think its sensible to have an extra security measure so I have a Disk-Lock.

I'd like to retrofit an aftermarket one (unless they came with a thatcham cat 1/cat 2 alarm as standard, I'm not sure).wheeler wrote: 16 Aug 2019, 11:43 Do you mean retrofit the original factory alarm or an aftermarket one?

There was an alarm system available - as to whether you have one or not we'll need the VIN.

The Toad Ai606 is a good cat 1 alarm, as with any cat 1 system to give it cat 1 status it has to be installed by an approved fitter. This can be fairly expensive so if its just to bring insurance down it may not actually be worth it, check with your insurance and see how much it will save you first.
