A bit of nostalgia...and trains

Heartwarming film Gibbo. The simple excitement and pleasures of a seaside trip. I well remember the days went 3 of four bus fulls from our village in the 1960's would descend on Whitley Bay/Tynemouth and South Shields for the annual trip.

Liked the comics getting dished out on the train, I more than remember the pleasure of getting the beano and dandy summer special.

Not an i-pad or phone in sight.

Very nostalgic, hadn't changed a lot since the '40s when I was that age and went on holiday on a steam train - or a coach. I was married in '63 when that was made and had owned some of the cars in the film.

My last trip on a main line steam train was in 1954 when I worked in London, on the odd Saturday morning I had to go in, if I ran all the way to Cannon Street station I could just catch the 1:04 pm steamer, first stop Orpington, then got an electric train back to Petts Wood.

The memories come flooding back.
