C5 (X7) Leaking Pipe front right

Post by dme88 »

Hi al!
So i'm replacing the front shock absorber in my C5 -2010 hydraulic car (2.0 138bhp diesel). The problem is that the pipe is leaking at point B. in this picture.

1. Can one open this and replace the busing (partnumber?)? Or do I need to buy a whole new pipe.

2. That is the part number of A. and B.?

Hello, and :welc: to the Forum. It is (in my opinion) likely that you will have to replace the whole pipe.

I won't take long for somebody with better access than I have to let you know what the Citroen part number is, and how much Citroen want to charge you for it.

Ok, so 2 things. This is the High Pressure pipe. Under leak diagnostics for this area, the solution is resolved by replacing the HP pipe. in each diagram the area identified for the leak is in orange.

Piping on Suspension Actuator
Sealing: O-ring on union retained by 1 fixing bolt
Probability: Severe
Possible causes:
  • Gasket sealing fault
  • No seal
  • Incorrect tightening of the fixing bolt
Access: Easy
Repair: Replace the piping
Sealing: Crimping on piping
Probability: Average
Possible causes
  • Crimping on piping
  • Body of the pipe porous and/or damaged
Access: Easy
Repair: Replace the high pressure piping
Secondly, although there are several o rings listed under suspension components - they do not say which parts they are for and relate to the suspension cylinder itself - so there is no way of knowing where they go - so if they are the wrong type and thickness, you may still have issues.

Pop up your VIN and I'll check the pipe part, but I suspect from your engine it is 5270WH. It costs UK £402.70 inc. 20% UK VAT direct from Citroen, so the equivalent where you are.

The seals under suspension listed are here:

(2) Suspension Cylinder O-Ring

(4) Suspension Cylinder O-Ring

Ok, that was hefty. It's just a oil film - I think I will wait with the pip in that case.

But the shock is really leaking. I suppose, from this picture i found, that the o-ring must be around 10mm. So that means it's number 2, 5280Y2. Right?

I tried to buy one from a Citroen retailer, but he insisted that it's included if one buys the shock. So I will wait until the shock arrives.
