Are there anything further checks I can make before I fit my second-hand Gearbox?
I’m gonna finally get around to sorting my long-running Clutch/Gearbox issue soon, with a change of Clutch & Box and wonder if I can do anything to potentially avoid disappointment on first drive with it.
I have a a BE3 TT Gearbox that I think is most likely a Good'un...
The car was delivered a good distance to me under its own power, I understand that the Vendor had no issues with it (but am not sure how much I trust his judgement)
I drove the car about 10 yards forwards & back location before I weighed in with the Spanners; it was fine. All the Gears seemed to Select OK and I don’t recall finding anything of concern in the Gearbox oil when I drained it.
I’m not going to go to the extent of attempting a Strip-Down, but if there’s anything more I can do before I fit it, to potentially avoid a nasty surprise; a pointer in the right direction 'd be appreciated, thanks.
