After my ac compeser not working, I now find my engine cooling fan not spinning I have started the car and left it for 15 mins and srill the fan doesn't spin. Fuse is fine as this fan got to do with ac compeser.

Re: Engine fan
When you say isn't spinning do you mean that the blade is free to spin but nothing happens or that the blade is seized so it cannot rotate?

Re: Engine fan
The fan won't kick in on low speed until the engine temperature gets to 96 °C on your C4 Picasso, then it steps up to medium and then high speed when it reaches 118 °C.

Re: Engine fan
I have run the engine for 15 mins and nothing, how long before it should kick in on a time basis.

Re: Engine fan
It's not time based, it's dependent upon the coolant temperature.
There are 2 graphs, the first to show how the fans operate for Engine Cooling and the second for Air Conditioning Circuit Pressure:
(1) DV6TED4 engines are all equipped with a cooling fan piloted by electronic chopper.
The triggering of the cooling fan for the purpose of cooling the engine is dependent on the coolant temperature as in the following graph:
Key
A Open cycle ratio (in %).
B Cooling fan speed (in %).
" a" Engine coolant temperature alert and lighting of the alert warning lamp.
C Engine coolant temperature (in °C).
(2) As far as the Air Conditioning goes, the required cooling fan speed as a function of the air conditioning circuit pressure:
Key
(A) Open cycle ratio (in %)
(B) Cooling fan speed (in %)
(C) Air conditioning pressure ( bar)
(GV) Cooling fan unit fast speed
(MV) Cooling fan unit medium speed
(PV) Fan assembly low speed

Re: Engine fan
My ac doesn't work anymore as my compresser recently broke I take it my engine cooling fan is not connected to the ac. I have a long journey to take soon but not sure if I should risk it there's nothing in the car to show if its colling or over heating until its too late.

Re: Engine fan
The engine fan works to cool the Air Conditioning Condenser (next to the main radiator) to cool the hot air it takes out of the vehicle when the A/C is working of course. The engine fans are commanded by the engine ECU as to when they come on and off and with information from the A/C ECU.
If there is a cooling fan issue, you will soon know with the high temperature warning on the instrument display - but you will be fine if it is just the A/C that is out.

Re: Engine fan
Can I still use my heating in the car or is this also connected to the ac or is it completely separate. Thanks for your help.

Re: Engine fan
Every car i have had , the fan comes on low speed when the ac button is pressed - i would replace the fan unit as the ac overheated and shut down (had exactly the same thing recently on my c5)

Re: Engine fan
yes, the heater will work fine. It’s just your A/C compressor that will be out. So you’ll only get whatever temperature the outside air is coming in, or hotter if you need it, but not cooler.
No sense in replacing anything until you have determined the cause. There can be lots of reasons - A/C wiring plug pin loose, so may not be getting power to it, could be a leak, and therefore out of gas and shut down, compressor stuffed, etc, etc.
