C4 knocking

Hi guys I have a 2007 Citroen c4 coupe vtr+ 1.6 hdi I have a knocking noise coming from the front I have had 4 mechanics look at it and they are not sure they dont think it is the suspension it only knocks when u go over a bump and it sounds like it is coming from under the bonnet like as if something plastic is knocking as a suspension knocking would be a deeper sound (if anyone understands what I mean by that) has someone had the same problem thanks in advance

If you've had all the bushes checked in the front, then it might be worth checking the engine mountings.....

Ok thanks for reply the 1 engine mount on the side the knocking is looks as if it has a bit of wear but on the passenger side the there is a new drop link but the 1 on the drivers side where the knocking is looks as though it hasn't been changed was wondering if that would cause it

That's why it's important to check all the rubber bushes in the hubs and joints as the it may not always be possible to test them by pulling or pushing them, but when the car is moving the weight and intertia is enough to cause a knock if any are worn.

Just to let everyone know the knocking has been sorted it was the driver side shock and top mount
