Aircon not clicking in on clutch.

Post by oscar »

My aircon isn't clicking in on clutch when press aircon button green lights on. cars one in my Signature which you have Vin for.
Did replace ignition switch unit while back so got fan etc to work and green light came on also.
Is there a normal Citroen Gremlin for it  or?

Will when sort Trolley jack out as one i have has a lift cup size of a large town which jacks up either end of car missing jacking point!(Modding it with a 150mm rubber and disc of steel so sills safe from it) then turn compressor make sure not seize? but not hearing click anyway.

Would it be relay or fuse?

The system is designed to cut out the A/C compressor if there is low refrigerant, or if the engine temperature is too high to protect the compressor. Other than that, it could be a fuse or the compressor is shot. I would start with getting it to Kwik Fit or ATS or somewhere that does A/C recharging and see what pressure the system is reading first. If the refrigerant is too low and you know you had it recharged within the last few years then a leak may be likely - that will require a leak test with some ultraviolet dye.

It's possible that a stone chip may have hit the condenser - which should be on the front left hand side of the radiator as you stand facing the windscreen. These are quite vulnerable to stone chips and can nick the vanes.

It will be hard to see the condenser as you can only really see it looking through the grille - and that really won't help much. If the A/C isn't used regularly (weekly or monthly at the minimum), then the seals start to fry out and perish. allowing the refrigerant to escape. If it's been stood for years then your seals probably need replacing, and then a refill and leak test will be the way to go.

It is most likely a hole in the condenser, but don't ignore the possibility that it is one of the pipes. You probably have to do some dismantling to get a better look. There will be oil around the leak.

Yes it's the smaller looking one - if you open the bonnet and stand over the radiator area looking down, the condenser is the smaller 'radiator' to your left next to the main radiator.
