Not exactly a show stopper type issue, just a nuisance - Almost each time time I start up Lexia it needs to be validated. I got it running ( and validated again) this morning and had a play around with the laptop, shut down, restart, etc, and it was ok. So not sure if its a date thing? It does have the requested version.txt on C: drive.
I recently rebuilt the laptop with a fresh XP install and its only done it since then, not sure what if I missed anything.
Any thoughts appreciated!

Make sure your network / wifi card is enabled - but don't allow it an active internet connection whilst using it with Lexia. The software uses your hardware identifiers for activation and if these are disabled it can cause activation issues.

Hi Marc, thanks for the reply. No wifi on the (old) laptop! Not connected to the web via ethernet either. Hardware identifiers? I wonder if I've something disabled then?

What I mean is they need to be enabled in the device manager (network interface and or Wi-fi card if present). If the hardware device is disabled, then it will be invisible to software programmes so that they cannot read the unique hardware identifier code, like a MAC code that most hardware has.
If the network card is enabled in device manager, then it is likely to be an activation issue or installation issue.

Re: Lexia - keep having to validate
I took a look in device manager, there was a pc modem card with no driver plus a comms port that was flagged as can't be used. I've removed those devices (not sure why there was a modem card in there, I've only ever used the ethernet port), see how it goes from there.

Re: Lexia - keep having to validate
A lot of older laptops had these built in - if it has detected the device it will have a yellow exclamation mark - so needs the driver to install. They may still be available from the manufacturer's website. It will likely come back though/ You may need to install the chipset drivers first, before the modem drivers will install - but if it is clearly identified the device already and not showing as 'unknown', you may be ok with the dvice drier alone. I suggested that because of the com port issue too.
