The Donk has no need for a front passenger seat. Vital drinks and food supplies can be carried in there for my missions
So, I can get the seat out no problems but what about that pesky airbag. If I disconnect the wiring, will I need Lexia to get airbag light off when seat goes back in come winter. Mk1 C5 LX.....it has side airbag in the seat.
If you disconnect the connector under the seat, that should deactivate the seat side airbag - but the light will remain on the dash. I would also suggest you disable the passenger airbag with the key too.
Having said that, the car is not designed to carry your 'tuck shop' in the front! Any impact can throw these things about and cause serious damage. Also be aware that any impact severe enough to trigger the lateral curtain airbag may impact on any loose things already flying about as a result of impact and can act on these as they explode - effectively propelling items about the cabin - really not recommended - you are asking for a fatality. As you have modified and removed a car's safety feature, you may also not be insured as a result - so I would advise on checking that too.
Today on Radio 2 Jeremy Vine show they had a segment concerning air bags and lanyards. An NHS member of staff had her lanyard on, with keys on it, was involved in an accident that triggered the air bag, she had keys driven inter her bowel, was in hospital for 6 weeks and has been off work since November. Somebody else had a similar incident where his ID card was driven into his chest. A passenger who was stupid enough to have their feet up on the dashboard lost both feet. There are other incidents;
Thanks Marc and James. As it is I carry 2 outboard motors and a chainsaw in the rear of C5. They are tied down with extra ratchet straps and additional d rings through bolted to floor. My stuff in front will be in heavy duty kit bags and ratcheted down. It will be low profile on the floor. The dynamite and petrol have their own chequer plate boxes, again through bolted to floor with security locks and lids. I have security cages at rear and side of me, in case any flag waving Jacobites should try to car jack me as I slow for sheep in sleepy Gaelic villages....
