Spare key

Unread post by Robert16 »

Only one key came with my newly bought bipper, where would be the cheapest place to get a spare .?
Doesn’t have to be a remote as long as it opens doors and starts van ..

Do you have the security card? This would have a four digit code, which is required to access certain menus when a suitable diagnostics reader is connected to the van. If you do not, you can (for a fee, which varies a bit from dealer to dealer), upon proof of ownership of the vehicle, get the code from a dealership.

When you have the new (suitable) key you will have to have ALL the keys you want to use available. This is because, when the vehicle is being introduced to the keys, any that are NOT done at this session will be 'forgotten', and will become useless (unless they are re-introduced at a later session).

OK, well you can get the code from a dealership, but I cannot tell you how much that will cost you.

I will suggest you post up the VIN, so that Forum Moderators can see exactly what your van had when she rolled out of the factory (and let you know these details). For security reasons the VIN will be automatically obscured, so only Moderators can read it.

There are Forum members who have Lexia clones, which will be needed to code the keys to the van. You will need to ask if they have the S1279 module, which is needed (as well as the rest of the Lexia equipment) for working on certain vans. The following link is of those members, but some have been inactive for a long while, so may not respond. Others will.

The key from Peugeot will cost you £104.98.

There is a guy called Craig in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire providing a key making / programming service. I've not used his services yet but he seems experienced and knowledgable, and I discovered him on the other well known Peugeot web forums.

Which supplier are you referring to?

If you are getting a new fob and key cut you’ll have to code it to the vehicle. If you are going to transplant the key with transponder into the new fob case you will be able to start the car, but the remote features may not work until it is paired. If you are transplanting the key and circuitry, you may as well just get a blank shell for a few quid. Depends what you want to do.

I got the transponder and key code from my local Peugeot main dealer a couple of weeks ago, cost me £12. They require a V5c in your name and also photo id (driving licence, Passport etc). You can't get a new confidential card now, they just look it up and write it down for you. If you get the work done at a dealer they'll look up the code so they can make / order the key but they won't tell you without the fee and id. Hope this helps.
