Citroen c4 1.2 pure tech

Post by Brian C5 »

Wife is thinking of buying a 1.2 petrol Citoen pure tech 110 or 130 hp.
Does this model have any major problems to look out for? Will be buying one that will be over 3 years old so out of warranty.
Also does this engine have a dual mass flywheel?
Is it direct injection that can cause inlet valves to carbon up?

Thanks in advance.

I believe these are simple SMFs due to engine power.

All I can say is that PSA have over 200 patents for the engine (3 cylinder) and have won international engine of the year four times in a row for these in the 1Lt to 1.4 Lt category, so they must be pretty good.

There are quite a few variants, so if you have any in mind, either pop the VIN up if you want the specs or the Reg number.

Have another question. I notice a lot of the newer Citroens have the stop and start system fitted.
I am not a big fan of this and prefer to stop the engine when I want to stop it. Also some cars you can flick a switch every time you start it to prevent stop and
start operating (something else I don't like).
My question is, can Diabox software be used to permanently disarm the stop and start system?

Thanks

The simple answer is No. It can only be deactivated at start of each journey as you have surmised Brian.

Thanks for letting me know, no point in asking the dealer to do it before I buy it.

Thanks again

The Stop Start System is heavily integrated into the vehicle, utilising battery capacitor system reversible alternator, possibly regenerative braking and of course all the software programming in the various ECUs to operate it all, so can’t be switched off permanently, only temporarily overridden.

The other systems still operate as normal when the Stop Start is not operational, and therefore need to be functional. So there is no actual Start Stop gizmo if you like, just the specialised components designed for it and of course the specific energy storage technology.

Thanks for the update Marc.
Its a pity cars are so high tech now, great when they work expensive when they don't. Even the cost of a battery for a stop start car is high. Probably ourweighs the cost of fuel that might be saved.
Anyway thats another story thanks for the info much appreciated.
