Activa ram repairs for the less handy
I've managed 150k miles relatively trouble free across several Citroens but now have a familiar problem with my Activa: leaky rams. I've had the rear ram replaced within the last couple of years but it seems it's decided to start leaking just in time for the MoT.
I'm aware of CitroJim's very useful repair guide but my technical skills and facilities aren't up to the job. Is there anywhere that is able to do these repairs? My usual garage in Leeds has seen the last of John Greaves' mechanics retire now so they've lost their Citroen experts and I'm not sure if anywhere else takes this sort of job on.
Any advice on where to go from here would be very welcome.
Thanks,
Gary

Try Pleiades, they have a wealth of experience with Citroen hydraulicy bits.

If going as far as Sawtry (for Pleiades) you might want to consider BL Autos in Welwyn Garden City, who probably have more practical experience with Activas.

Thanks for the suggestions - unfortunately they’re not able to repair and replacements aren’t available which is my problem. I guess others with Activas have used CitroJim’s method themselves but that’s not something I’m able to do.

Talk to a hydraulic specialist....show him Jim's directions, it should not cost much.

Try m&m motors in holme bridge holmfirth. Print off Jim's repair and take it to them. Tell them mark from bronte water sent you. Get all the bits that are needed for the repair and take them with you.
They did mine about four years ago or more. Cost around £150. Simon is the guy who does them, he's a wealth of knowledge with citroen's.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for following up. I’ve had a chat with M&M but of course the challenge is locating an XM return collar. I suspect they’ve been hoovered up by Activa owners!

I am not sure if it is the same part, but a Turkish company is re-manufacturing the return collar for Xantia racks https://www.drxantia.com/index.php/en/p ... ing-detail
The person supplying these collars is a member here memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=26992 , so you could ask for the dimensions.

Thanks for the links - that certainly looks the part.
I don't have the dimensions of the XM collar but it seems that the XM collar could substitute for the Xantia one according to this discussion viewtopic.php?t=50595

Have you tried citroen for the collar as that is where i got mine only a couple of years or so ago. I will speak to my contact at Evan's halshaw citroen in Sheffield on Wednesday and see if they can get me one.

Thanks for the heads-up and well done once again Chevronics!
I hope they aren’t too long in coming - the Activa is without MoT and I’m really missing it!

Re: Activa ram repairs for the less handy
It is recommended that you also delete the leak back line switching to a 3way joiner above the subframe (good luck getting into that
....Thomas (ACTIVA Club) has done it 60k km ago and it is still dry.
