Re: MOT
The repeaters in the wings use W5W/501 bulbs with the glass envelope covered in amber lacquer. In time this lacquer gradually flakes off making the light less amber. Sounds like yours just need the bulbs changing. I don't think that they're a suitable case for repair!

Re: MOT
Glad it worked - but a little surprised that nail varnish didn't melt the lenses.
Paul-R is right about these arsenic-free bulbs needing replacing periodically - but "chrome" bulbs look so much better behind clear lenses (which you don't appear to have).

Re: MOT
Hi VAN O'D,
Well the lenses were CLEAR but bulbs had lost their colour,So painted the lenses instead.
MOT bloke prefered them to be coloured obviously,
Rather than change the bulbs, just painted the Clear lenses, job done, and look quite nice.
Used this trick many years ago on the REAR LIGHTS on the car for the RED.
Works a treat,instead of buying NEW Clusters.{Nail Varnish}.

Re: MOT
Well you do seem to have a bee in your bonnet..
Anybody can see it is used with the intention of making a statement of emphasis.
{I} is a capital is that shouting,no...as against {i}.?.
when putting on items we buy,They ues this to ensure it is read and acted upon,
Not to wind people up...Have I shouted at anyone on here,No..
and would not do so,As it is a very good source of information and can add my two penny worth..
I find Marc on here amazing, obviously (you) have only Negative comments to make and therefore of no use to the Forum at all..
will ask other Team members if I am out of order.
Thanks for that chris, really been a great help in trying to wind me up,well done.
in fact please read "Contact Us" Administritive Replys..
Then feel slightly embarassed (I) hope.

Re: MOT
It has long been accepted that the excessive use of caps is unacceptable and seen as impolite at the very least - it actually makes the text harder to read rather than providing emphasis and as Chris has indicated there are other, better ways of emphasising text.

Re: MOT
Years ago, when I taught PC maintenance, we were advised by The British Dyslexia Association to avoid block capitals, underlining, serifs and italics in our documentation. This is because most people initially read a word by its shape, followed by the lettering, and block capitals, etc., change the outline of the words.

Re: MOT
The full Editor and Preview button will give you greater options for emphasising points or words and avoids the use of Caps.
I'll just quote this bit from All Caps Wiki:
"For this reason, etiquette generally discourages the use of all caps when posting messages online. While all caps can be used as an alternative to rich-text "bolding" for a single word or phrase, to express emphasis, repeated use of all caps can be considered "shouting" or irritating. Such poor netiquette has led to a number of cases involving employees being laid off for this particular reason."
I generally only use capitals when I'm giving instructions for following a sequence of system menu commands to access in software Menus to distinguish between my blabber and a set of options to choose, but generally try to avoid them otherwise.
Anyway a splash of colour here and there doesn't hurt.

point taken from You,, Usefull as usual and not trying to give confrontation.
I am not that computor literate,I am 75,but feel it was just trying to show clout to impress me one which doesn't impress me one bit..
enough said about the subject...
pehaps he may keep his private comments to himself..
