Does the C5 X7 2.0 have the dampened crankshaft pulley like earlier Peugeots?
If so, is there a time (years or mileage) when they are due to fail (roughly)?

Depends what you are precisely referring to:
If you are talking about the Flywheels (Item 11) then these are Dual Mass for manual gearboxes and Single Mass on Auto boxes.
If you are talking about the 'Single Damping Pulley', (No 15) then no these are single for both gearbox types.

Yeas. No 15. The auxiliary belt crank pulley.
I take it that this is a metal and rubber unit seeing as it's called a dampening pulley, rather than just a solid metal part?

Yep, it's got a rubber part to it to give it a bit of damping. They are known to de-laminate in time, though mine is still OK at 10 years old and 95k. Paint a white line across the metal and rubber parts and keep an eye on it - if the rubber moves then the line will distort.

Re: C5 X7 2.0 (2009) Crankshaft Pulley Question
They call them harmonic dampers. I had one let go on a Toyota I used to own. Fortunately I had just started to move off when chaos erupted under the bonnet. It shredded the alternator and air con belt. Some of the belt got into the timing cover. Had to replace all belts including timing belt as a safety precaution. Crank pulley was insanely expensive from Toyota..

Re: C5 X7 2.0 (2009) Crankshaft Pulley Question
Sorry to resurrect this post but I did a search and couldn't find an answer.
My May 2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi (RHF engine 140ps / 138 bhp / 103kw) needs a new crankshaft pulley (aka 'single damping pulley' or 'vibration damper').
Can anyone tell me the specific part number I need?
I have my VIN to hand if that's required . . .
I have seen you can buy just the pulley or the pulley and bolt - some seemingly with damping and some without - any guidance would be appreciated

I have a feeling it's the same as mine - but pop your VIN up to confirm correct part number

Ok, so if it’s item (15) it is part number: 0515V9 £162.20 inc. VAT from Citroen.
