My drivers seat is feeling a little bit flat...Now where near as comfortable as the passenger seat! Anyway, although I am a considerate driver I do feel that that comfy passenger seat is being wasted on the G/F.
Is it possible to swap the front seats over?[:)]

Sometimes it seems like I've pulled apart more BX front seats than had hot dinners - and I've dismantled a few for the hell of it and to repair the odd one.
Jon & G4EIY are absolutely correct. I've swapped in a number of complete drivers seats from scrappers, though the squabs have often come from the passenger side.
(1) Swapping l/h and r/h seat foam squabs, or from another car, is the proverbial piece of cake
(2) Backs (metal) CAN be swapped (e.g. if bent) but are a very considerable palaver & not really worth it (considerable dismantling). Foam backs + covers are more easily swapped but be prepared to unstaple/restaple material at the base of the cover + suffer the odd bit of damage to plastic trim.
(3) Bases i.e. the unit on sliders (metal) are either l/h or r/h due to location of seat belt receivers. No swapping is possible
(4) double-adjusting seats (base height & back) can be found for both passenger and driver's sides on upper-spec models (TR,TZ,GTi etc.).
(5) Back seats are totally interchangeable - whether split or not in the first place. The rear side-squabs are also removable and interchangeable, with a bit of rear boot trim removal/replacement for access.
(6) TR/TZ/Gti seats have completely different foam inserts & covers to other models (a lot better too, and more hardwearing). The metal frames and bases are common to all.
(7) In worst cases, lower-spec covers can be removed and washed - but don't expect them to ever fit as snugly again unless you can reseat the bits that are originally stuck down or sewed into the foam squabs.
I've even got a library of pics relating to dismantling BX seats - shows how sad I am!

Ok answer me this....can BX seats be fitted to a ZX and if they could will they look cr@p? I would really like some nice supportive GTi seats, my ZX Aura seats although reasonably comfortable (not amazingly) offer pretty poor support. The lumbar adjustment doesn't seem to do much.
Will BX seats fit?

Hmmm - a couple of quick responses:
GuruMeditation: It all depends on the width of the seat base tracks - whether they're the same for BX and ZX (I don't have a ZX to refer to...)
Philhoward - I'd look at sourcing another seat from a scrappy if you want the rake adjustment. You may find a seat with an adjustable base height too. You're unlikely to successfully remove/replace the seat back successfully n your own seat - I certainly wouldn't advise it from the sanit point of view as there's plenty of greasy bits and the ever-present chance of being left without a driver's seat to sit on. For the record:
the seat rake adjustment for the back rest involves, from the front of the seat going backward:
(1)The control wheel, which turns a plastic cog
(2)A toothed rubber belt running from this cog inside the plastic trim running front to the rear of the seat.
(3) At this other end, another plastic cog assembly.
(4) Into this slots a cross-seat metal rod via terminating oval loops at either end of the rod.
(5) The oval loops run on a metal ratchet section underneath the "arms" of the seat back, which then pulls/pushes the seat back/forwards in its runners as it turns over (see the little ratchets on bottom rhs of pic below if it comes out).

Clear as mud, eh?
I'll mail some pics if I can locate anthing useful.....

Try this one for size too.... includes a side view of the bit I suggest you don't touch until/unless you have another driver's seat ready to swap in.
