Road tax for C6

Unread post by osx »

How much is the road tax for the C6 with 2.2 and 2.7 diesel engines? I think manual/auto also makes a difference. A friend is selling his and I am tempted to give it a go until diesels are banned for ever!

Last time I looked it was £500 but I haven't checked recently, may be more now.

A quick look at the DVLA site says £315 to £550 depending on the model and it's due to increase in April.

These are the current rates as the C6s were registered between 1/3/2001 and 31/3/2017:

C6 2.2 HDi Auto (199 g/km): £290
C6 2.2 HDi Manual (175 g/km): £230
C6 2.7 HDi Auto (230 g/km): £540
C6 3.0 HDi Auto (199 g/km): £290

So you'd be better off with a 3.0 Litre!

My 407 2.7hdi auto would be in the highest band, over 500 a year if it wasnt registered as disabled. I presume a c6 to be the same.

It's emissions g/km, not engine size as can be seen above the 3.0 Auto has the same emissions as the 2.7 Auto.

So another £10-15 a year max. Dependent upon engine you pop for. Not too bad. It’s newer cars that will get hit more.

My £500 guess came from enquiring about a C6 that was offered for sale or linked to on here, I think that was a 2.7 HDI

I would have bought one years ago if it wasn't for the VED. I aint paying over £10 a week for my road tax grrrr, especially when I'm only paying £30 a year for my C5.

No annual road tax in France. Nothing. Mind you, there is a charge when you register a car (new or second-hand) - reduced to half if car is over 10years old. And of course motorways involve toll charges, but you would need to do a heck of a lot of km on motorways to get into the 100's of euros a year.

Wouldn't take me long at all if I were to use toll autoroute all the way from Calais to Orange every time. €86.10 each way according to ViaMichelin. Enough to pay for an overnight stopover in a hotel in fact.
