ABS sensors

Post by tomsheppard »

Mine bear the mark of Henry on their coax connectors-Ford!
Needless to say this is the broken bit of my BX!
Does anybody know if these are generic Ford parts which would make finding them easier at the scrappie?

Can't believe they are Henry parts.
Most probably they are either Bosch or Valeo parts - might be used on Henry's with their logo on as "genuine" OEM parts - often the case with most car-parts.
Not yet had the hassle with an ABS fitted car - but would definately believe the same type of sensors are used on many odd makes & models.
At least all PSA's (Peug & Cit) would for obvious reasons use the same type.

BX ABS sensors were supplied by ATE as O.E. As far as I'm aware they were type specific to the BX. Perhaps someone has adpated a Ford sensor?

Tom - I've seen the reference to ATE elsewhere come to think of it. Check your mail if you haven't already.

No guys, Honestly. These are original factory fit BX parts and careful inspection of the coaxial connectors' translucent plastic outer part will show the oval mark with Ford within. Check your own out!

I agree with Tom. Having been on intimate terms with 3 of the sensors to repair rotten screening I can confirm the existance of Ford markings certainly on the plugs.
These plugs don't seem to be a standard sized co-ax plug. Is this a universal size for ABS systems and unique to them? - if so that may be the explantion.

Yes, I suppose that if ATE and Ford cooked it up between them then the plug could be generic Ford pattern. I remember that Saabs used to have a part marked with the Audi VW logo- hanged if I can remember what it was.

According to my trusty indie cit mech BX and XM share the same ABS sensors although apparently they are of a comparitively rare BX model, so if Henry's agents have been knocking these out by the shed load it may be that ABS fixing could become comparitively cheap!
