I have a 2006 Berlingo Van with a 1.9 DW8 engine
It's fully serviced
Out of the blue it lost power, won't Rev and kicks out a lot of light blue smoke. Subject to all that it starts and idles.
I am assuming it is fuel related as the actual engine is good and it doesn't seem to be miss firing.
I have taken the inlet pipes off and all is clear.
I disconnected the MAF plug/wire and no change.
I disconnected the exhaust return pipe/EGR and no difference.
The EGR valve is in the open position when idling or trying to rev.
I was wondering if it could be the Advance Solenoid that is faulty.
Has anyone had the same problem?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Berlingo DW8 Fuel Pump Advance Solenoid Problem
Hi, and
to the forum.
There are any number of things that could cause this, and part swapping in the hope of finding the right part could be expensive and time consuming. What you really need to do first is to get her onto a Lexia to read any fault codes (a generic reader probably won't do). Fortunately there are forum members with Lexia equipment who are also willing to help. Here is the link;

Re: Berlingo DW8 Fuel Pump Advance Solenoid Problem
I have changed quite a few advance solenoids on the DW8, they can be intermittent. When the exhaust somke happens the engine can rattle is head off & it sounds like there is no oil in the engine. Switch the engine off & back on again then it goes back to normal.
The part is not cheap from memory but its a very easy job to change with the pump in place.

Thank you for the two replies so far.
I have contacted the nearest engine diagnostic man but he is 25 miles away so I will have to wail and see whether he can come because I can't drive the van as it is.
The engine does rattle a bit as if it's got the old fashioned diesel knock but it is consistent and whenever I turn it on it is the same, smoking and does not want to rev up.

Might be worth checking the timing has not jumped a tooth or two.
