2003 xsara Picasso, pulled up at a driveway, and it stalled, would not restart. battery went flat .got a tow home, and overnight recharged the battery.engine still will not start
many years ago I bought a Autel maxiscan obd reader... and for the first time of use is telling me...P0135 o2 sensor heater bank 1, P0200,injector cct open, P0350 ignition prim/ sec cct, P0440, evap emission system.......
is all this terminal? expensive or feasible to rectify please, as yet, I haven't had any professional advice on this..

Step 1 would be to connect it to a Lexia clone. Generic code readers struggle to understand the PSA vehicles, but (as it is a clone of the official device) a Lexia clone can handle (depending on the version of the software) most Citroen and Peugeot vehicles.

I can help you with those codes, pop your VIN up for me.old-un77 wrote: ↑27 Jan 2019, 12:582003 xsara Picasso, pulled up at a driveway, and it stalled, would not restart. battery went flat .got a tow home, and overnight recharged the battery.engine still will not start

There's an error in the VIN (within the last 8), check again if you can.

Re: I stalled it!now appears to be extinct
Unfortunately not much more specific information on these codes for the year - however, each of these will trigger the engine management light.
P0135: Upstream oxygen sensor heating control
P0200: Injectors control
P0350: Ignition coil control
P0440: Canister Purging Electrovalve Control
I do know that it could be a symptom of your coil pack needing replacing. How long ago was it since it was replaced?

It's not somethig simple like an inertial safety switch has triggered when it suddenly stalled and has cut the ignition ? i.e. the sort of thing that triggers when you're in an accident and it cuts the engine until the switch is reset ? Do cars even have resettable ones these days ?

as far as I know it has never been replaced, I've had the car since 2006..it HAS however stalled a few times...put that down to supermarket fuel...restarted immediately though..??
other than that the only real problems has been Tyres and Exhausts, and two dashes instead of a speedo...hence a permanent sat nav....

there isn't a mil showing, it just wont start and there doesn't seem to be an obvious inertia/impact switch in the engine bay..

Re: I stalled it!now appears to be extinct
All those fault codes point to an ECU power supply problem. Fuel cut out inerta switches were deleted frim the xsara picasso range around 2002 ish when com2000 was introduced.
As far as the 2 dashes instead of speedo display ive seen 2 things that cause this on the picasso, kids posting coins into the CD player slot (this does not normally cause starting issues though). The other thing is water ingress into the injection ECU under the bonnet this does eventually cause starting problems as you can imagine. Unplug the ECU connectors & check. There should be a plastic boot over the connectors & the wiring should run down the way.

thanks for that Wheeler....however I have a owners handbook, and the fuse box in the bonnet is nothing like the one in the book it has three large multi plugs and a smaller one ....also the economy mode has activated...is there a way of resetting this, without the engine running?

Re: I stalled it!now appears to be extinct
I would agree with Wheeler - your first action should be to carefully check the engine ECU connectors - it is a common enough issue where there can be some green corrosion on or near the pins - and this can affect the speed info sent to the dash ECU. It will likely affect cruise control if fitted to. One chap found the entire pin had corroded away...
As far as the inertia switch is concerned, on your model, EW7J4, it still has the inertia switch as far as I can see mounted on the right hand wing. I know it was replaced on the EW10J4 engines from a later build number, but is still referenced on this engine.
I'm looking at the circuit diagram now and will post it up shortly to assist you in locating the correct pin

Re: I stalled it!now appears to be extinct
Its the injection ECU im talking about, not the under bonnet fusebox. The injection ECU is located under the bonnet next to the positive jump start point.
