GTI TURBO spark plugs

I think I may have asked before, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself, but does anyone have any views on wether the 2 or 3 types of plug that can be used have any real effect on running or performance?
As I've previously said, my car is now a joy to drive, loads of shove, smooth, no more cutting out but it just starts like it's had 50 Woodbines the night before and is just 'woofly when gently revved at idle. As SOON as you're underway though, blimey!!
