Since moving here in 2006 we have owned 6 Citroens:--- Xantias, Xsara Picasso, C5, C3 Picasso. First significant problem occurred today - we had used the C5 and C3 to go down to our local Citroen garage so as to leave the C5 there for a service. It is a 5mile journey each way.
On the way back the C3 (just over 2 years old, bought new, just 20 000km (12 500miles) from new). Suddenly the engine faltered - never done that before. We got home, but only by driving steadily and not accelerating much. When I stopped the car at home I revved the engine in neutral, but 3 000rpm was the limit and the 'engine fault' message came on.
Any ideas, please? The C3 had, until this afternoon, always been totally correct. The engine is the 1.2litre petrol, 110bhp. The car has always been gently driven, that's not shown in the fuel consumption, however; it is difficult to get better than 50mpg.
Oh dear, after all those Citroen-years. 2016 C3 1.2 petrol.

It's obviously gone into 'backup mode' which will limit engine power until the fault is rectified. It needs Diagbox as it could be any one of a myriad of faults - but likely emissions, air or fuel related. Can't help further without a VIN and a few fault codes to go on.

Hello and thanks. With my Wolf OBD2 reader I can see just one fault - P0191 - which looks like the fuel pressure regulator. Perhaps my VIN would allow you to kindly look up price, part numbers etc? VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].
Thanks.
Thanks.

There is progress on this.
I told the garage that I had myself found fault code P0191 was on the car and that it seemed to be regarding the fuel pressure regulator. He opened his computer to check.
Anyway while he was looking I casually mentioned that we had put 95E10 into it three weeks ago for the first time. That woke him up.....interdit (forbidden) he said quite forceably!!!
My mistake, I know, but I understood that it was ok for all modern vehicles. BUT apparently, not for this engine. So why no warning from Citroen to us 1.2 THP engines? There was publicity in the papers/TV that E10 was now going to be available and how it is good for the environment...blah blah, but nothing said about possible engine problems. The handbook in French does not mention at all anything about petrol containing ethanol, but the english handbook does say the engine is ok for E5 (5% ethanol).
At the garage's suggestion I have filled the tank with 98 and erased the fault code. He said that I might get away with it.

I see you've located my post on E10 on the other thread Roger - and from the above, assume you no longer need part info? If you still do, just shout.
