Aerobics

My 96 2.0i Xantia estate won't do the aerobics properly. It rises to the full height from the normal setting and down to the lowest setting ok from there. If you then go back to the high setting the front goes up but the back stays down at the low point. Returning to the normal setting sends everything back to normal again ie the front goes down as the back comes up. Is this a sign of impending failure? The ride seems OK.

Definately a linkage problem.
Mind you - these linkages from the sway bar to the HC is like having door hinges hanging in open air freely down in the road dirt mist under the car.
