807 outside temp sensor

Post by robram552 »

Hi All
I have a ‘54 plate 807 2.0 hdi executive.... my outside temp display currently shows “ — *C “ .
Can anyone tell me where the outside temp sensor is located on this model. I also have an ‘09 807 Norwest... on this car the sensor is on the underside of the passenger side door mirror. But on the ‘54 plate car, I’ve had both mirror covers off and no sensor on either side... nor any evidence of the wiring having been disturbed (for example, cut wires).
Any advice would be appreciated.
With thanks.

Hi and Welcome.

On all models of 807 the exterior temperature sensor is shown to be contained in the passenger side door mirror. If you want this confirmed, pop your VIN up.

Ok, confirmed - it is number 8 in the diagram and should be on the underside towards the back - a little nipple.
807 Temp Sensor.PNG
If the temperature reading is not registering a reading then it has likely been removed at some point, but is a standard item. It is part number 6445F9 and these are still available from the dealer priced £47.09

There's a genuine one here on the bay for £30:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Genuine-PEUGEO ... 1938046634

or a real cheapy here for £1.80! Not usre what sort of quality that will be, but a few to choose from.

I have replaced a few of those on various cars, usually with cheap ones from ebay, I have had only one bad part, but stick to vendors with good feedback.

The sensors come with wire ends that must be spliced and soldered into the wiriring in your mirror, it is a good idea to connect it temporarily before cutting the wires short, to test in case you want to send it back.

There's my recently shattered C5 mirror sitting on the bench here with the temp sensor still in it, if it's worthwhile doing I'll take it out and post it to you, no idea what they cost, or where you're located.

The cheap ones have always worked for me, I think pretty well all Citroen/Peugeots use the same sensor, hence the cheap aftermarket ones.

Thanks for all your help.
I have a replacement sensor (original part) and thought it would be a simple matter of soldering it where the old one had been removed.
However, I’ve checked both mirrors by removing the covers and there’s no evidence that there has ever been a sensor behind either of them. Yes the holes are there where the sensor protrudes through on the undersides, but no sign that the wiring has been disturbed or where the new sensor needs to be “spliced in”!
I’d started thinking that the sensor was located elsewhere on earlier models.....?

That's a RH mirror in your pics Marc, the C5 is in the LH and I think that's where the op was looking.

It's a Peugeot 807 Gibbo (which this thread is about - no mention of a C5 anywhere :-D ) and that is the procedure - regardless of LHD / RHD - they don't duplicate procedures when it is the same regardless of Passenger or driver side.

Yes Marc I knew it was an 807 but guessed it would be very much like the C5.
Here's my shattered one.

So just to clarify:
  • The 807 (all models) have the sensor
  • On RHD vehicles the sensor is in the passenger side mirror
  • On LHD vehicles it is in the right hand side mirror
  • The procedure is the same regardless of LHD / RHD
  • If it is missing, then it is likely the mirror has previously been replaced and the wire was cut and removed by the breaker (because it does not have a connector to unplug it)
  • Either way it is standard equipment so was there when it left the factory
I can't be plainer than that - I hope that make sense.

Soooo, could the complete door mirror (or at least everything except the shell) have been replaced with one from a LHD car?
