could a faulty/ceased air con compressor cause an EML light to illuminate.
Long story, but was just wondering..

No, not the A/C compressor - that won't cause the EML light to come on.
You have something else going on there I'm afraid. Best to get it diagnosed with Lexia and put up all the fault codes here and then we'll be able to advise further.
