Hi. A friend of mine has a damaged tailgate on his mk2 C5 tourer
He has found a replacement on eBay that is even in the right colour...
Will we have any issues swapping the two over?
Will the boot lock still work ok - we aren't sure where the 'identity' lives?
Thank you very much
Simon

Re: C5 - change of tailgate
As there's no key for the boot, you shouldn't have any problems. The locking and unlocking is done electronically once the transponder chip code handshakes with the BSI. The BSI then authorises the locking / unlocking.

No problems, if you want the removal refitting info, let me know the car year.

Re: C5 - change of tailgate
Aaah a MK III (X7)! Ok, leave it with me, there's quite a few electronics, edge sensors in there for the electric tailgate (if you have this model), including the struts that are not standard, so caution is advised. I'll get the procedure up shortly, but do you have your VIN - as that will determine other fittings and whether I need to include these when getting the right procedures. (VIN is automatically masked from public view).

Re: C5 - change of tailgate
I have just asked him to send me the reg and VIN... watch this space. I am sure, )from ageing memory) that it's a manual tailgate tho...
Thanks again for your help - much appreciated!

Re: C5 - change of tailgate
Either one will do as I can get the VIN from the Reg.

It's VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Re: C5 - change of tailgate
Ok, that's cool, I've replaced Reg with VIN for future referral in case it's needed again. So confirmed as not having motorised tailgate and non-panoramic roof. Give me a while and check back later.
