Diagbox installed! But...

Unread post by sparksie »

Hi all
I spent all day yesterday trying to install Diagbox from CD.
I had already given up on the version that came with my kit, almost 4 years ago, and was using discs very kindly sent by a forum member, who had successfully installed it himself.
After doing the same thing over and over and getting different results every time, it eventually succeeded on the 9th or 10th attempt.
I exited and restarted it, hoping to update from the "updates disc", but it kept trying to go online and never offered the option to update from disc.
I think I'll try it in it's present form ((c)2009), because the car I need it for is a 2008 C5 X7, so should be covered.
However, I'm bound to need a more up to date version, sooner or later, so can anybody tell me how to go about updating it, please?
Thanks guys
Sparksie

You won't need a version past 7.58 for your 2008 model, as this version already covers you models and updates to 2014. 7.57 covers you to Oct 2014

But as for updates read my post here on how to properly update - you have to follow the correct procedure or it won't work. Updates must be applied one at a time:

I have with the help of the Forum installed 7.57 which comes with the discs as a stand alone updater, and now with help from the Marc i have now installed 7.58 and all is working well with my 2008 C5 X7 .
Yes update to 7.58 but remember to keep the wifi enabled but disconnected.
If you use the laptop for normal use make sure you keep an eye out for the odd pop up from psa that asks for permission to connect to the internet, i nearly got caught out do not allow access :)

Make sure, before you do upgrade to 7.58, what firmware version your kit has. Marc, I believe, has a version checker. My equipment is version B, which can only go up to 7.14 (well, in theory, but mine works with 7.15, but not above).

Thanks guys.
I ended up spending the day with a Mk 2 Pajero, so never got to the Citroen.
Might get a chance tomorrow, if nothing else pops up to distract me.
For my first time, at least, I need to be focussed.
On the up side, everything except the wipers still works, so the new battery seems to be helping.
I have access until after the weekend, when the car has to go home. Must not keep putting it off, though...
