Hi Guys.
Battery start giving up on me (7-8 yrs old) and now it's time to think about replacement. I can't see any specifications on my current one. Is there any recommended capacity and cca (amps) for this sort of diesel engine ?
Usually measure battery's tray and try to fit as biggest possible, but recently I was told that I can cause some damage if replace it with too strong.
Any advise ?
PS: Got a really bad experience with Lion brand, so definitely stay away from it.

Re: 2.0 HDi - car battery recommendations
Yuasa batteries come highly recommended. I have bought and fitted one but can't remember where from or which car.
I put a new battery in about 2 1/2 years ago when the starter failed,
It was £53+VAT, came from ACP through the mechanic I use.
I did want a Varta but they had none, the Bosch one turned out to be identical and made on the same production line.
It has been fine, a contradiction to the usual ACP stories.

Re: 2.0 HDi - car battery recommendations
I too generally upgrade batteries on replacement, opting for the one listed for the larger/diesel engine version - but never really paid much attention to brand. However I would now take some persuading away from Varta (which I'd always dismissed as too dear), at least for the C15. When I went look at it, I thought it'd been standing for about a month - & it needed a jump to start it. Factored in the price of a battery when negotiating a price as fully expected to replace it very soon. That was 3 1/2 years ago & the only time I've had to charge it was after a short in the starter drained it on turning the key - AND there have been times it's been left idle, in fact about a year ago it must've been for 6 weeks. There, having sung its praises, it'll probably die over the winter.

One more vote for Yuasa. Their YBX3000 series more than ample - have a YBX3096 in the XM.

I've got a Yuasa 5096, I think it had the highest Ah capacity for a 096 sized battery at the time of purchase.
