Rear Subframe bearings106 and all?

Unread post by gordon123123 »

Hi Guys
New to this forum though I have had the Pug 106 1500 1996 Diesel for 5 years!
It now at 80K miles has a worn rear suspension arm post on the Subframe (LH side), well what happened is the seal failed and water got in and rusted the bearing running service. I fitted new bearings but of course there is still a little play in the bearing which is an MOT failure at the Wheel! It appears that the only options are New Subframe at £400 odd and 4 weeks delivery. A second hand unit may be just as bad? As I understand its a common problem. I feel there must be another solution to a new Subframe! Someone must have been here before and found a suitable way around this? Anyone doing Paten subframes? I believe the problem is through out the Peugeot range!
Viable Solutions please as I wish to keep the car not get it through the MOT and sell it on!
Thanks Gordon

Hi Gordon - I have an identical car and hope someone replies to you - I don't know the answer I'm afraid - but have heard of people having to buy a new subframe. What I am thinking is I should check those seals on my car and replace them if necessary - is this easily done? Where exactly are the seals? Is it like the hub shaft and it is the wheel bearings you mean. I will get out the Haynes book when I get home but any info would be appreciated...
Best Regards - they are great cars - love the mpg....
