How to remove immobiliser (coded solenoid) from dw8 engine

Unread post by lurcherlad7893 »

Hi

I'm new to the forum and could do with some help

I currently have a fiat scudo 1.9d which I have happened to have a little live tap with a 18tonner and totally ruined it

Due to the bent leg I am not going to repair the bodywork so I have purchased a Citroen dispatch with a blown engine again 1.9d

I am thinking about swapping engines

When do I stand regards immobiliser can I just swap the key heads and use the fiat key or will I need to remove the solenoid??

Thanks for your help

It's best to pop up the VIN of the Dispatch (or the reg number) so I can see exactly what it had as there were different systems employed depending on build date and model.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Maybe not quite applicable to yours but I had a Lucas-to-Bosch fuel pump swap done in my '99 DW8 Dispatch. The Bosch pump was actually out of an XUD9 engine so had the ol' drill through the case and remove the immobiliser technique.

If you have the later DW8B with the ECU it might be a different kettle of fish. Agreed a VIN will help clarify things.
