Hi Folks, I am new to this forum so please bear with me.
I was trying to find the right area for my comment maybe someone can slide it where it fits best
My submission is to help solve immobiliser faults on Citroen C5s---
After disconnecting the battery, or when it goes flat which happens after a few days of non-use the immobiliser shows "immobiliser fault" text.
Resting the computers to get it to start is done by sitting inside with nothing switched on and operating the central locking twice click clack-click clack
this resets the computers and allows the engine to fire up. It can be done with the dash button or the key fob.
BTW does anyone know why the battery goes flat after a few days of non-use please it has done this for 10 years.
Cheers Peter.

Re: C5 Immobiliser Issue
Hi Peter & Welcome.
Actually that isn’t the procedure for a BSI reset. The procedure is as follows:
I would first check you battery to be honest, when was it last changed? C5s require a well charged battery to ensure the electrics operate properly. A failing battery will result in multiple electrical glitches and problems.
I would get the battery tested and changed if necessary. Having it discharge regularly means it not holding a charge and is probably end of life and has passed its duty cycle, or your alternator isn’t charging it up.
Actually that isn’t the procedure for a BSI reset. The procedure is as follows:
- Open bonnet and Driver side window.
- Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition
- Wait for 5 minutes, then disconnect the vehicle battery negative and wait at least 5 minutes. Don't open any doors or press any buttons.
- Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 3 minutes (do not open doors).
- Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
- Switch on the ignition only, don’t start vehicle yet and check system's functionality.
- With key still in ignition hold lock button on key down for 5 seconds.
- Remove key through window, then operate Central locking several times.
- Now open door and start the engine and complete the system's check.
- Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.
