Passenger wing mirror repair

Post by xantiagreen »

Accidentally thwacked passenger wing mirror at around 30mph, rear casing survived still attached with a bit of movement on the underside the glass is fine, the whole wing mirror casing seems just slightly loose but the motor has snapped off from the bottom and sides in the photos you can see where it has snapped off. If i was to use 2 part mix glue or will a glue gun be better.

I have also looked at a replacement, there seems to be year 93-98 xantia but looking at the wing mirrors they look the same as my 2001 with the rear covers on, so am i right in thinking that any xantia wing mirror that has the rear color coded caps are for the S2 version.

Ok, but as you've just copied the content from the private message, the VIN is already masked so you've actually literally pasted in the masked content! - just edit your post above and re-type the actual VIN in again then it will be fine.

The internal construction of the mirror motor and the wiring changed between the MK1 and Mk2 Xantia. They can be interchanged if you don't mind cutting as splicing the wires.

It looks like yours is a non-dipping mirror, which is much easier to source than the dipping version used on higher spec cars. A repair with a good epoxy glue should be sufficient, although I recall that the plastic tends to reject most glues.

Aaahhh, i thought that the later 98 version xantia with the rear caps on the back of wing mirror would be a straight swop, ive managed to wedge tbe mirror between the cracked screw on the rear casing but i get the annoying vibration which i cannot stand. If i was to use a glue gun and Super Tac 500 or Gorilla glue stick i shoukd get a strong bond and and a bit of flex or am i wrong has anyone used glue sticks to repair a wing mirror before.

Yes, that's fine, leave it with me. I've removed the last posts about the VIN as they detract from the topic and are no longer relevant.

As Mike says, there are subtle differences between the MK I and MK II wing mirrors, not least that the MK II is now electrically heated. The mounting plate (10) on the MK II is also different it seems, but the casings look to be similar.

I don't really like mixing threads up, but to answer your sphere question, here are the sphere parts and pressures for your Xantia II DW10ATED HDi 110, and your specs for the car have been emailed to you at your request. Note that these are Citroen official spheres and part numbers - they do not list comfort spheres as they are not officially supported.

Everything is now back in place using glue and velcro, hoping it lasts a while failing this it will be glue gun and plastic bond glue sticks.

Did you get the info I sent? This was sent using your registered email address - if you have changed it then might be worth updating your profile, but in any case I've had nothing back saying it was undeliverable.
