C3 Elegance, 2006, sensodrive trouble

Post by Videoman »

Hi everybody!
My wife's car, 2006, 35,000 on the clock, good condition, value c £1700.... but now has developed the dreaded Sensodrive/gearbox/drive failure. The local Citroen garage have put it in the machine ( £55 ) and it comes back with P1755, Clutch actuator ( Main dealer, £770 to do the job )and the same dealership says I will probably need a new clutch and if doing that at the same time brings the cost to £850.
Simple question really, is it worth having done or is a non-running 2006 C3 worth more that £1000 ?
Cheers.
OMG !!!!!! I have just looked at the quote again!! It is £850 for the clutch replacement and then ANOTHER £770 for the actuator !! No discussion needed! I have a scrap C3 on 38,000 miles !!!

I thought so. The actuator is an expensive part but easy to replace. The clutch is a lot of work but not so expensive on parts. I did both of these myself as the clutch bearing failed on mine. Shortly after replacing the clutch and bearing the actuator failed. It had a lot more kms then yours though, 180k kms. I'd be tempted to just do the actuator at this milage....
