M250 EAC

Unread post by momag46 »

Just noticed my old XM (2.0 CT auto) M250 EAC has just been sold on Ebay.

I owned this car from Jan 97 to March 2013, it one of the first batch of the series 2 cars and was still a demo car when I bought it!

Has it been bought by anyone on here?

A look on the DVLA web site now shows this car as “not found”. Does anyone know if its been scrapped?

I'd say scrapped Maurice. Often when a car is dead it appears to remain on the DVLA Database for some time but not always...

I've just ran a check of a number of my old ones and a few of which I know have been scrapped and all but two show up but with long expired Tax and MoT...

I'm now wondering if those that come up as 'not found' have been properly scrapped (i.e. the proper procedure has been followed on the V5C) and those that still show up are effectively scrapped and languishing somewhere in a limbo-state.

The cut off date is about 2008 - before that there was no official de-registration process so you will still find old cars, since then the scrapper is required to go on and tell the system the car has been scrapped, and it instantly removes it - if scrapping you should get a certificate of destruction to say that it has been de-registered and scrapped.

That makes good sense of my findings Richard as the ones of mine that show were scrapped before 2008 and those that don't presumably were scrapped after 2008...

Thank lads, I sold it after buying the Xantia. There was not much wrong with it, leaking sun roof, it was due a cam belt, header tank sender leak etc. cracking car😢
