Xantia front drops

Went to wash my Xantia Activa this morning and put suspension on to high, being 6ft 3 it makes getting to the lower parts easier. With in a few minutes of turning the ignition off the front had dropped to the ground and the rear was still in high. What would cause this? I expect it to take longer to drop and more evenly.
