C5 X7 tyres query
My Exclusive Tourer has 225/55r17 tyres fitted, the fronts are ready for replacing. I've been offered a pair of new Nokian winters at a very good price (I have winters on the rear already), the only issue is that they're 235s, not 225s. I understand the differences in speedo readings (negligible) courtesy of the larger rolling radius, but is there likely to be any impact due to my car having fluid suspension....the 235s will be around 0.5" higher? Will this make the suspension throw a fit??
If it was on steel, I wouldn't have given it a second thought!

Re: C5 X7 tyres query
The larger tyres might make the ABS throw a hissy fit when it gets speed figures that differ between front and rear.
Not had this problem myself but I have read that even same sized tyres, but from different manufacturers, sometimes throws this problem up.
I don't think that steel or wet suspension alters that either way.

Re: C5 X7 tyres query
The ESP ECU is programmed with the correct tyre sizes at factory. If you change the tyres Pete, they should ALL be the same size as the ESP ECU needs to know what you have on the car to operate properly.
This can be done using Diagbox and going into the ESP ECU. There you will find an option for the allowable tyre sizes. Options for the X7 are:
225/60 R16
225/55 R17
245/45 R18
245/40 R19

ISTR remember that different sized tyres front to back - or possibly left to right - can cause auto box issues as well.

I'll moved the part of the topic concerning car insurance into a new thread, as I think it is deserving of a separate topic
