C3 Mk1 heated leather seats - retrofit

Post by retrofrench »

I will hopefully be installing a full black leather interior into my 2003 C3 SX over the weekend. Is it likely that the wiring for the heated front seats will be present somewhere? I’ve removed my current passenger seat which had two connectors on it - pretensioner and airbag I presume. If not, I could take a feed from the live feed in the engine bay fuse box.

Has anyone done this?

The two connectors you've unplugged should be a 4-pole (2 connected?) blue connector for the seatbelt pretensioners, and 4-pole (3 connected?) green one for the airbag.

From looking at the wiring diagrams, the heated seat system seems to be self-contained in the seat and is connected to the car with a 3-pole black connector which has the following connections:
  • 1074 :control, engine running+ (from the BSI)
  • MIC7 :APV MIC7 earth
  • BMF1 :boitier maxi-fusibles (live feed from fusebox, NB fed from fuse 6)
I haven't been able to tell if the wiring is present in the harness for cars without heated seats fitted, when I viewed the diagram for the 'NON HEATED SEAT' variant the heated seats where still there!

I'll send you a copy of the diagrams unless the mods are happy to have them posted here.

Thank you very much for this. Unfortunately I can find any sort of black connector or other wires that come into the loom. A wiring diagram would be ideal though.

Thanks

There were different intermediate wiring looms on the Mark I (they have different part numbers at least between those with electric seats as standard and those without) - I can't say whether this means they are materially different or rated differently unfortunately. However, here is the diagram for a 2003 C5 MK I Driver's Electric Seat.

I have put together lists of the most common component codes here on our Wiki, sections listed in number order, to help identify the ECUs / Equipment:
