Battery cover

Post by Hdi200 »

Hi, should I have a cover over the battery on my C5? It's a 2.2hdi 200. It looks like it should and the cover has been lost. Anyone know the part number if so, thanks in advance.

Mk1s had a cover (and presumably Mk2s as well). Mk3s (X7s) don't. Can't tell what year you've got from your car description but I guess it's an X7 by the power output.

Paul, ServiceBox lists part number 7159 12 for both variants of the 2.2 HDi. Available for the princely sum of £11.72 inc VAT from Citroën.

* It's the same cover as on the 2.0 HDi (DW10BTED4)

Owner's manual shows a battery cover present in the engine bay layout diagrams for all the engines save the V6 HDi where it's in the boot.

My car (a 2.0 HDi 138) certainly has one.

Yes - I think you must be missing yours then Paul - I have one too! Not that they ever fit very well - probably because I have a larger AGM battery in mine - the clips don't quite fit over the battery edge to hold the cover on tightly - but it is certainly there.

My 2014 C5 with the same engine didn't have a battery cover from new.
I think Citroën saved a few pence or pounds by removing items from the car's specification, like illuminated interior door bins, rear windscreen sun blind on C5 saloon, n/s indexing mirror when in reverse.
My car now has a battery cover & illuminated door bins, it I've been unable to get the mirrors to dip when in reverse.

They certainly did:-
Indexable Electrochromed Door Mirrors and Side and Rear Sunblinds were only available on early exclusives with 'Detection Pack 2'
Sun blinds were also part of the 'Leather', 'Vision' or 'Concert Packs'.

Most if not all those options were downgraded on later models. Interesting to note what you say about the motion detection LED door pocket lights - I find that feature really useful when your groping about for something in the door - I can't see any referece to it other than interior mood lighting and surprised that was not included on your car either.

Regarding the battery cover, they weren't supplied on X7 models with the DT17TED4 or DT20C engines (the V6 2.7 or 3.0 engines).

That would be because the batteries were in the rear of the car!
