C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 HDI 2007

Hello, I have a problem with my C4 Grand Picasso and I'm hoping that someone can help me out...

Basically, back in 2016, the EGS actuator was basically playing up and no longer functioning as it should, so car was dropping out of gears quite alot to the extent that I got tired of it (I believe this is a common problem with the EGS system) I then sent off the actuator to a company similar to the well known establishment "SINSPEED" who claimed to have "refurbished/repaired" the actuator, However, when the actuator returned, the car was in a worse state than it was before I sent the actuator off,

The problem I'm currently stuck with since the actuator came back is that the car is showing a "-" as the gear selected on the dash, therefore the car is not detecting the Neutral gear in order to allow the car to start, initially I was told that it's a case of the actuator not communicating with the ecu and it could simply be a case of a wiring fault or reprogramming however, reprogramming personally doesn't make sense to me since it's still the same actuator and it was atleast functional in a way before it was sent off..

Wiring fault, could be possible I guess, However there's so many wires and I don't have much knowledge regarding those wires, however if anyone can shed some light, I'd really appreciate it,

After browsing on those forums, I also saw that many others had the same problem and I think one of them said it came down to the "Earth grounding points" being dirty, if anyone can let me know where these are located on the car, I'd really appreciate it..

I just want to get rid of this fault since the car has been sitting around since over 2 years now therefore I'd really appreciate any kind of help.

Can you PM or post your VIN then I'll be able to advise on earthing points for you. A bit late now, but the EGS systems are awful - if you ever decide to renew - get a manual or a fully automatic is all I can say

Yeah I figured that the EGS system is a complete disaster, I was in need of a car so brought it in a hurry without any kind of research, but surely wouldn't go for the EGS system again after this horrid experience!

As far as I know, if the actuator is depressured (which it has to be to remove it) then it needs to re-programmed once refitted. This is a sequence it runs through to locate all the gear selection positions. It can only be done with Diagbox, and you really need an auxiliary power supply, as the car's own battery doesn't provide enough voltage. If you haven't done this since the actuator was refitted, then there is no hope it will work....

I believe that the Citroen Specialists the car was with already tried this, However, they said it was unsuccessful since the actuator was not communicating with the ECU...

Is there anything else I could do?
