Fuel rail presure sensor

Hi all
Just bought my first Citroen for 20 years.
Bought a 2008 c5 2ltr hdi it came with a new fuel presure sensor as it was displaying a fault on the code reader. Fitted supplied part car wouldn't start
put the old sensor back in car started. Checked the part numbers and they were different supplied part was 55pp02-02 my-b. The so called faulty part that was fitted to the car was 55pp06-03 mya. So ordered a sensor 55pp06-03 mya of the net fitted car still wouldn't start in with the old one car started. The sensors all look identical . Is there another part number i should be looking for .
Citroen will only supply a full fuel with sensor . Is there such a huge difference in the sensors that it would not allow the engine to start?

Hi and welcome.

You can't just put parts on a car because they look the same - yes official part numbers are critical to the correct operation of the vehicle. You have roughly 30 electronic control units in your car and all these talk to the various sensors connected to the multiplexed network and are connected to several computers. Although a part may look identical, they are made to different tolerances and parameters which are designed to work with the different engines and related components.

Those part numbers are not OEM (Citroen) part numbers and I would also be very wary buying afermarket as quality of sensors can very tremendously, with new parts often being dead on arrival.

Ok, so I've had a check on this and in the technical section, Citroen actually state

Do not separate the fuel high pressure common injection rail (3) from the fuel high pressure sensor "d".

As you can see from the official parts section below, the actual sensor is not shown as a separate part available.

Only the Rail itself is shown (Part No: 1570L9) and will likely incorporate the sensor within it.	Citroen stipulate not to separate the sensor

The price form Citroen for the rail is £253.39 inc. VAT. You may be able to source one elsewhere for less, but I'm wondering if separating the sensor is causing the issues you've had?

Hi thanks for that . I know Citroen only supply the rail complete with sensor. I dont think removing the sensor and replacing is the issue.
My next step is to check the fuel presure valve on the pump I seem to recall on the end of
the cam shaft.

Yes, looking at the diesels from the range, they don’t supply any of these separately.

Have you diagnosed it with Diagbox yet? That would be your best bet to identify any codes and pinpoint any issues.

Very curious that they don't supply the parts separately. Would be interesting to know the technical reason why that would be the case.
