Xsara 2 nightmare
I have a issue with my Xsara, where i dont have any blinkers, windows dont work, speedometer doesnt work, lights dont work, AC doesnt work, wipers dont work.
And i cant get to get them working. Ive tried to use "learn" with lexia to get the bsi to work but i got stopped by the message i need the code card, thats long gone missing.
Is there a way to get the code? Our local Citroen centres say that they cant give a info like this. What to do?

Re: Xsara 2 nightmare
We will need more information before we can give specific advice. The VIN of the car will help. We also need more history. Did all of those functions stop working at the same time? What fault codes are present?
One thing to tell you is that (unless you have done something we don't know about) there is no chance that reprogramming your BSI will fix it, even if it is possible.

VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]**********
All these functions stopped working at the same time.
The car has multiple faults, im not now at the pc where all the faults are stored
There where several sensor faults - speed and temperature
One i remember from top of my head was P1613
Dont know any history because i own the car just several months

Re: Xsara 2 nightmare
You have a 2002 XSARA II 5 DOOR ESTATE 2.0 HDi 110 (DW10ATED) 4-SPEED AUTOMATIC GEARBOX.
As Mike says ^ you can't programme it - that won't do anything apart from brick your BSI using a clone - unless the software is re-downloaded at the main Citroen dealer.
I'm assuming you have a lexia as you seem to already have tried changing some settings. Have you changed any settings at all - even if you think they are not important? A small change on any parameters that are not designed for your Xsara can render the car non-operational. The BSIs are used across different cars in Citroen and Peugeot vehicles (back in 2002) and there are some features and options that must not be changed because of the way the electronic architecture of the vehicles and design features differ.

Re: Xsara 2 nightmare
Given the age of this Xsara II it has an ANC Control Box and a COMM 2000 unit. But there are a limited number of BSI fuses in this earlier BSI unit shown in my table below:
Modifications came in to introduce a CAN-VAN network later in the year:
Given that the OP has specifically mentioned electrical items like the Dash Speedo and indicators, as well as all the other items - that is too many for a single relay or fuse failure to cause. From the second table you can see that the Comms 2000 unit that handles wipers and lighting / indicators is on the VAN Car 1 Network, and the Heating ventilation and instrument panel on the Comfort VAN network, so would have to be more than a fuse...
These models had several fuse boxes - so if you know you haven't changed any settings in your BSI or made any configuration changes, I would start checking all the fuses and the wiring for any corrosion and proper connection to start with.
Also, what are you getting when you run a global test? What are the fault codes if any?

Re: Xsara 2 nightmare
I`ve checked all the fuses.
Didnt change any configurations or anyhting. Just checked the faults and tried the activations.
An interesting thing is that the turn signals dont work, but when i press the hazard lights, they work, but in the interrior no indicators.
If i try to activate wipers using lexia ir moves for a centimeter.
I will get back to you later with the list of faults i have. One fault i rember is Engine Management Relay fault...
The line of channel 4 of BSI connector 26v JN is short to ground. Im sorry guys im new to French cars and i couldnt find any info what to look for.
I think the 26v JN connector is the yellow one on the BSI, but what is the channel 4?
In the connector, the 4th wire isnt even populated.

Re: Xsara 2 nightmare
Ok, that info is a little more helpful. Something is affecting the vehicle network - it's like when you have a weak battery - all the dashboard lights and relays will click and flash like a christmas tree - scary - but that is what a flat battery can cause - seen this first hand on a Xsara/
I'll have a look for you on the wiring circuit.

Unfortunately, there is no further detail as to what any of those wires do on that connection as the diagram just shows them going to an ECU.

Unfortunately, unless you are competent with electronic fault finding an repair - and there is a risk of taking the BSI apart yourself - may be it would be better to send it off and have it repaired?
There's a place in the UK that can repair the BSI units, if you think it is at fault. It might be worth contacting them and explaining the fault and they may be able to advise. Here is the link:

Re: Xsara 2 nightmare
I could check the wires , i could rewire them, but i cant seem to figure out what is "Channel 4" because there is no 4th wire on the 26vJN - its empty

Re: Xsara 2 nightmare
Yes not all wires are always present - it depends on options fitted and the vehicle. This is quite common. It is more likely to be a failed relay on the BSI or connection to the unit to cause so many system glitches.
If Citroen diagnose it as a faulty BSI unit, they do not repair - only replace because they are not electronically trained to make repairs at PCB level - throw away and replace these days!

Re: Xsara 2 nightmare
Looks like this will be very fun to fix.
yesterday i found the relay box. Unpopulated, there was something burned, the wires are chopped off the relay box and connected together.
There are several wires hanging in the engine bay. How did the car even work before?!
I found the ECU, wich was opened before (the case of the ECU is sticked together with cheap sealant - silicone)...
And few of the connections are green oxidated. Will update as soon as i find more nightmare material.

Re: Xsara 2 nightmare
Sounds like you have found your problem - I hope the last person hasn't damaged it by bypassing the relay - they are there for a reason. If you can identify the markings on the label, we should be able to identify which unit this is and then maybe locate a replacement.

Can you upload some photos of the 'relay box' and 'ECU' so that we can see which components you are talking about?
