BX HELP

My Recently purchased bx 16 rs has just died after a puff of smoke came from the exhaust now it wont start please help me

Has it still got it's timing belt in one piece, if so is it moving when you operate the starter, they can also loose their teeth besides breaking, if all is ok there it could be ignition or fueling electronics, can't offer you any help on these i'm affraid, hope you get it sorted.

Thanks Dave since we got the car running and home i think its a fuel/carb problem since the plugs are sooty. As soon as i can find someone to do it i will get the timing belt changed having experienced what happens when you do not get this done in 2 other cars.
Does any body no of any good Citroen mechanics in the Newmarket area
